bird_watching tour nepalNepal is not only famous for mountaineering and trekking but also a paradise for bird watching. There are over 848 species of birds [8% of the world's total birds], of them about 500 species of birds are found in Kathmandu valley alone. Namely Phulchiki, Godavari, Nagarjun and Bagmati River in the valley are the most popular spots for bird-watching purpose.


Out of the valley, there are many favorite spots for bird-watching, where you can arrange for bird-watching. Namely,

Chitawan National Park, where over 450 species of birds exist, among of them are the rare birds too, namely, Bengal-florican, Giant horn bill, lesser florican, black stork and white stork. Furthermore, the common birds namely peafowl, red jungle fowl, different species of egrets, herons, kingfishers, fly catchers, and wood peckers can also be seen in the park. Besides birds, over 45 species of amphibians and reptiles are visible in the park.


Likewise, Bardia National Park is another place for bird-watching, where we can see the Bengal florican, lesser florican, silver-eared mesia, Saurus crane and other common birds of nature.


Shey Phoksundo National Park is one more, rich spot for bird watching, where many species of birds such as the impeyan pheasant (Danphe- the national bird of Nepal), blood pheasant, cheer pheasants, red and yellow billed cough, raven, jungle crow, and snow-partridge exist.


Rara National Park is also one of the famous spot, which offers Resident Gallinaceous birds and migrant waterfowl etc. besides that the great -crested grebe, black-necked grebe and red crested pochard are also visible during winter season.


Equally, Makalu Barun National Park and Conservation Area also another hangout for bird-watching purpose, where over 400 species of birds exist, recently two other species of birds namely- the spotted wren babbler and the olive ground warbler were also found in the area.


Shuklaphanta Wildlife Reserve is one more place for bird-watching, where over 200 species of birds reside.


Koshi Tappu Wildlife Reserve is also one spots where over 280 species of birds, including 20 species of ducks, 2 species of ibises, many storks, egrets, herons and the endangered swamp patriadge and Bengal florican exist.


If you are fund of bird-watching, our message to you is, just get your binocular and handout the area, where you will have really rewarding experience. The best time for bird watching is March and December.

Itinerary in Detail

We have a package, which covers all the major tourist destinations of Nepal including three major cities in Kathmandu. (Kathmandu, Bhaktapur & Patan), rafting in Trishuli river and drive to Pokhara, one of the most picturesque city of Nepal.

 

If you go for drive to Pokhara, you can enjoy with the sunrise over the Annapurna Range and the Fishtail Mountain, including a rare combination of snow-clad mountains, crystal lakes, streams, villages which is inhabited by ethnic people.

 

We also take you to the heart of the Chitwan National Park, where you can have a direct view of the wild animals & wildlife in their natural habitat.
 
Another beautiful destination Nagarkot also includes in a package, which is located 32 kilometers east of Kathmandu with the altitude of 7,133 ft. above the sea level. This is the place where you can have a panorama of the major peaks lies in the eastern Nepal including Sagarmartha (Mt. Everest). Besides this, you also can admire on breathtaking view of the sunset and sunrise.

Day 01. Arrive at Kathmandu airport (1345meters). You will be met by our representative and transfer to Hotel and a short brief about the trekking after refreshment.
Day 02. Full day sightseeing in Boudhanath, Pashupatinath Swayambhunath & Kathmandu Durbar squire. 
Day 03. Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara, enroute rafting on Trisuli River.  
Day 04. Hike up to Sarangkot hill for sunrise and half day sightseeing in Pokhara valley. 
Day 05. Transfer to Chitwan National Park (inside the park) for 2 Nights / 3 Days tour programs. At noon, slide show, Tharu stick dance in the evening & dinner. 
Day 06. canoe ride, nature walk, elephant ride/ bird watching, breakfast, elephant briefing, swimming and bath. 
Day 07. Bird watching tour and departure to Kathmandu. 
Day 08. Arrive at Nagarkot hill station enjoy the sunset view. 
Day 09. Enjoy the sunrise from Nagarkot and transfer back to Kathmandu. 
Day 10. Transfer to international airport for your final flight departure.

Day 06. Full day bird, butterfly & dolphin exploring activities on foot and in boats in Koshi Tappu. 
Day 07. Drive from Koshi Tappu to Chitwan for 9-10 hrs through the beautiful landscapes. Evening jungle activities in Chitwan. Evening enjoy Tharu cultural program. 
Day 08. Whole day jungle activities in Chitwan National Park including jungle walk, elephant ride, canon ride, village visit and explore the jungle on foot and jeeps for birds viewing, butterfly watching. In the evening enjoy a cultural dance performed by local villagers. 
Day 09. Drive from Chitwan to the Bardia National Park, jungle activities in the Evening. 
Day 10. Full day Jungle activities including elephant safari, nature walks, jungle drive, bird watching. 
Day 11. Drive to Nepalgunj for about 2 hrs then fly to Kathmandu.  
Day 12. Transfer to international airport for your final flight departure.
