Langtang Trekking…Hiking in the backdrops of eco-beauty that’s as natural as nature can be…& not found anywhere else…
Langtang Trekking is one of the most unspoiled trek in Nepal. Langtang is geographically based north of Kathmandu and it is the most easily accessible highland haven from the capital city of Kathmandu and at the south of the Tibetan border Himalayas and in the north of the Inner Himalayas. Langtang Treks are basically sandwiched between the main Himalayan range to the north and a slightly lower range of the Himalayas to the south known as Langtang Lirung at (7246m), which lies to the north; Gang Chhenpo (6388m) and Naya Kanga ri (5846m) lie to the south and Dorje Lakpa (6966m) stand tall towards the East of the Valley.
This wonderfully trekking Region covers 1,710 sq. km. forming the upper catchments areas of two of Nepal's largest river systems - the Trishuli and Koshi. There is great latitudinal variation, starting at 1,500m and ascending to the top of Mt. Langtang Lirung at 7,234 m. As a result, the Region has immense ecological diversity that gives it amazing landscapes. Some of the most attractive areas of the region include the Langtang Valley, the holy lakes at Gosainkunda, and the forested hillsides above the village of Helambu.
Langtang Trekking falls under the Langtang National park and langtang is home to the unique bird species of the Impeyan, Tragopan and kalij pheasants among others. Larch, a rare deciduous conifer, is also found in the forest of lower Langtang Valley. Further up, the Himalayan thar, musk deer and snow leopards can also be found in Langtang Area.
The Langtang region is attractively forested with rhododendron, oak, maple and alder as well. The stretch of forest around Ghoda Tabela in the lower Langtang Valley and below Gosainkunda is inhabited by the red pandas, a rare and threatened symbol of a healthy Himalayan ecosystem. Other animals, common to these forests are wild boar, the Himalayan black bear, ghoral, grey langur monkey and the leopard. Hunting in this region is strictly prohibited.
Like other Himalayan nature parks, this verdant region also has to be explored on foot and there are several possible Trekking trails to choose from according to your preference, time frame and interests. The langtang Valley is easily approached from Syabrubeshi town, which is a day's drive from Kathmandu. The upper reaches of Langtang can be reached in 3 days of pretty cool walking at your pace; however, it is advisable to spend a few days around the forest at Ghoda Tabela to watch for the red panda. For the more adventurous Trekkers, there are options of climbing Tsergu RI and Yala peak with Ganjala pass trekking;
