Mera Peak Climbing ...
Mera Peak climbing is one of the most exciting adventures in Nepal, as it is one of the highest 'trekking peaks' in Nepal. It is a hard but it has often been visited along the Makalu Barun National Park. The summit no doubt offers the amazing views even if you do not have plenty of stamina to make summit.
We start our expedition via flight to the small mountain airstrip at Lukla, the heart of the Khumbu region and as we have to cross the Charpate Himal and Zatrwa La Pass, we have a time for acclimatization for two or three days around Chutanga (3,050m). Once we are ready then we cross Zatrwa La lies at Hinku valley. Subsequently, we pass through many unspoiled forests of rhododendron and descend down to the Hinku Khola and we follow the river to the north towards upper Hinku.
Eventually, we reach at Tangnag, the river valley that offers impressive views of the west face of Mera peak and Peak 43 and we have at least two-days for acclimatization and once we are ready then we head up to the moraine of the Dig Glacier, and steep down to Khare (5,045m) and we set lower base camp at around 5,300m near the 'Mera La' Pass (5,415m) on the 'Hongu' and again we have some days for acclimatization and explore some of the areas and move to a high camp on the edge of the Mera Glacier, where we again have time for further acclimatization from the place we can have a panoramic views of the east Kanchanjunga, Chamlang, Makalu and Baruntse, to the north Everest and Lhotse, the north east of Ama Dablam, Cho Oyu and Kangtega.
Finally, if weather condition is good, we make our summit of Mera central although there are two other peaks namely, Mera South (6,065m), and Mera North (6,476m). Once we finish ascending the summit, then we return to the base camp and subsequently at the airport and back to Kathmandu.
