Peak Climbing in Nepal
Nepal Peak Climbing

Nepal is a top notch destination for Peak climbing in Nepal with over 600 expeditions each year to Everest & other peaks resulting from an increasing popularity in attempting the big mountains along with the recent opening of new peaks in Nepal. Among the 14 highest peaks in the world above 8000m, eight of the 10 highest of these mountains are found in Nepal, a country well known for its gargantuan massifs & equally challenging trekking peaks, among them Mt. Everest…the ‘Peak of all Peaks’. There are countless mountain peaks in Nepal, of which there are over 326 now open to ardent trekkers & climbers who have a deep love for the great wild, for a government fee; and some of the most challenging ventures in the world are found in this Himalayan country. Of course, mountains are found in other countries too, however, the Nepalese Himalayas give you more choices to suit your needs, skills & experience…& this is not found in other parts of the world…

Climbing Nepal’s Peaks became the buzzword following the successful ascending of Mt. Everest by Tenzing Norgey Sherpa and Sir Edmund Hillary on May 29, 1953. Nepal is home to the eight highest peaks above 8,000 meters (among the top 14 in the world), which are: Everest (8,848m), Kangchenjunga (8586m), Lhotse (8516m), Makalu (8463m), Cho Oyu (8201m), Dhaulagiri (8167m), Manaslu (8163m) and Annapurna (8091m). Similarly, Nepal has more than 1,300 mountains above 6,000 meters which offer mountaineering or peak climbing at its absolute best. Most of them are open for the purpose of climbing and organizing any kind of adventures sports that benefit in particular, those who love the wild, and this includes some of the best trekking on earth.

The Nepal Mountaineering Association {NMA} gives permission to climb mountains below 2,200 ft, whereas the mountaineering section of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation issues permission to climb mountains above 2,200 ft. The royalties that have to be paid for Nepal peak climbing depends on the number of members involved in a group and the height of the mountain you want to climb as well as the adventurous sport you want to organize in a particular mountain area.
